It's all about the Science
A healthy root-zone for healthy grass must have good biology, chemistry and physics. Biology controls the chemistry and physics.
The Symbio Approach
- Assess the grass species, root-zone profile and physical soil structure.
- Review the chemistry and available nutrients in the root-zone.
- Determine our customer's requirements based upon the data available and preferred management practices.
- Advise on adjustment to the fertilisers applied to balance the soil chemistry, bring base saturation into balance and increase Cation Exchange Capacity for optimal nutrient availability and uptake.
- Devise a programme to create and maintain healthy grass species and develop biologically active root zones.
Soil Samples
Below is an example of a soil sample taken at three different time periods during March-September 2017. The first initial sample is what you would expect to see from a generic sports turf maintenance plan. What you are seeing is heavy banding through lack of aeration and overuse of inorganic or toxic materials.
After establishing our soil analysis report we were able to start using the correct natural products introducing aeration over the next 6-12 months. In our second soil sample you can see the banding starting to breakdown and disappear and becoming more uniform.
After 2-3 years you can see the soil has vastly improved from the first sample, showing very little banding and prominent aeration (soil sample 3).As well as removing banding and creating better aeration we also specialise in dramatically reducing the thatch-layer naturally as opposed to mechanically minimising disruption on the surface and unlocking the potential nutrients in the soil.
